As the founder of the very first Flying Dress company in Cartagena, and indeed, the entire nation of Colombia, Jennifer’s entrepreneurial journey has reached new heights. Her innovative business not only creates breathtaking photoshoots but also fosters a community of strength and inspiration.
Originally from Atlanta, GA, with roots in St. Louis and Grenada, Mississippi, Jennifer embarked on a courageous journey, driven by a passion for crafting a tranquil existence in a tropical haven. Her story is one of relentless pursuit, courageous exploration, and unwavering determination.
Jennifer’s journey to Cartagena was not merely a leap of faith; it was the culmination of a diverse and illustrious career. Armed with a degree in nursing, she honed her skills in healthcare management, where she successfully managed multi-million-dollar corporations and worked as a healthcare consultant. “For all of my adult life, healthcare was all I knew. And I loved it! I loved helping people,” Jennifer shares.
But Jennifer’s ambitions extended far beyond the confines of traditional healthcare. With over a decade of experience as a travel agent, she immersed herself in the world of travel, launching businesses such as The Travel Bestie, a renowned travel agency. Her entrepreneurial spirit knew no bounds as she ventured into diverse ventures, including The Virtual HR Group, a medical recruitment and virtual medical HR company, and Jennability, a graphic design and website development company.
In August 2022, Jennifer founded Flying Dress Cartagena, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her entrepreneurial journey. “The photoshoots in Santorini, Greece inspired me. I was always enamored by the beauty and elegance of those shoots and knew that I could create something equally as beautiful in this beautiful city,” Jennifer reflects. “I knew I wanted to open a business in Cartagena so in June 2022, I devised my business plan and by August 2022, Flying Dress Cartagena was born. My website launched September 7, 2022, and I did my promo shoot on September 23, 2022, in which I was the model.”
Jennifer’s decision to uproot her life and leave her loved ones in the United States was not an easy one. As a mother to six adult children and a hands-on grandmother, it was a difficult decision. However, she knew she had to do this to build a legacy for them. “Before I knew it, I had 10 bookings by December, and I knew that I could no longer manage the business on a part-time basis, so I moved to Colombia full-time in February 2023,” Jennifer shares.
Through her passion for empowering women and her relentless pursuit of excellence, Jennifer has become a symbol of hope and empowerment. With every shoot, she empowers and uplifts women from every corner of the globe, turning dreams into reality and igniting a wave of empowerment that resonates far beyond the shores of Colombia.
